Home Designs Niklas Larsen, Thursday, May 18th 2017, 13:08:42 PM. This modern lake house was designed in three parts, the public area, master bedroom and the guest zone, all were built with durable yet simple and cost-effective materials such as SIP panels and stucco wall over insulated form blocks. Other materials would be concrete for wall finish and floor, and aluminum for windows. Architects: Hughes Umbanhowar Architects. The “H2o” in the “Ski House H2o” may represent the passion of the house owners of water sport, namely water-skiing. The passion appears in the design of the house and its features. Firstly, they modified an existing artificial lake in the agricultural property they bough to be used for slalom course racing/water skiing. Secondly, this modern house features design that admires the artificial lake along with its surroundings. Located in Hobe Sound in Florida, the open design (especially at the upper transom windows) lets breezes in for cooling after passing the lake’s water and the lap pool. This design creates a passive air conditioning for the lake house. Moreover, the open design also captures the view of the surroundings. The house comes with spacious rooftop area enclosed by wonderful elegant and simple grey metal balustrade. There, the landscape and lake view.

Its flat roof along with the overall horizontal design is a wonderful contrast to the slope, and its boxy shape is just another beautiful point that would steal passers attention. The sandy wall is cut and decorated with small, long window, giving it a contemporary look, adding a sense of context of being on a hill overlooking the landscape while also giving the interior an ample natural lighting. On the opposite side, natural lighting is provided via large openings while at the same time, giving the overall landscape view of the city to the interior. Ze Arquitectura.

The fixtures consist of eight washbasins and a series of accessories, ensuring a wide variety of styles and functions. Laufen.

The social area of this modern forest house is shadowed by this third volume, this all-fresco living is connected seamlessly via the transparent walls, the temperate glass sliding panels that enclose the first floor / middle volume that make the forest visible at any time. While the construction was tried to be a process of assembling parts rather than a loco process, creating less waste at the building site, more agility and proper use of industrialized materials, the design as a whole tries to seamlessly connect the indoor with its serene outdoor spaces. Due to its location, the property is located at the street level, under the plot in an intimate environment, the façade does not accommodate windows, instead, a huge void was created on the roof as a lighting stretegy. The result is quite effective, the minimalist interior is quite bright and airy allthough all private areas are protected from other people’s sights. Just as its minimalist exterior counterpart, the interior is also finished in white with some color accents that come from the wood flooring and furnishing. Architect: Manuel Aires Mateus.
