After designing many retreat houses an architect may need to relax and enjoy himself in his own retreat house. The site location is on a hill with very beautiful surroundings of hills, valley and lush green forest. It seems that it was important for the architect to build the house with large glass cladding, mostly for the living areas. These areas also have a reflecting pool that creates the aura of calm and serene as well as mimicking the nature. The other areas are built in separate volumes. These areas house two bedrooms. The glass cladding also are utilized well for those volumes but only at the valley facing sides. These volumes are clad mostly with dark timber. All of the areas including living and bedrooms are sheltered with open roof. The roof also being mounted with PV cells to collect the solar energy.

This cladding is more extensive at the second level. These glasses do not only make the house looks modern but also brighten the interior. From the main entrance, you’ll find a living room after the first glass cladding. The room continuous to the kitchen and dining room with inner courtyard view. There, you could find another living room with lowered floor level. The entire area that spans from the entrance to the rear of the house is bordered with a long wooden wall with beautiful pattern. It is given a name the “Wall House.” This house, the 810 SF, is located in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

The interior is rich in detail. Plush luxury rug spans in the living room. An elegant elliptical glass table sits gently on the rug accompanied by cube metal table. There, the living room also features a sphere suspension lamp. The backyard is elegant with its pool and wooden deck. Moreover, there are also wicker outdoor furniture and long sofa with colorful cushions covers. There’s no visible trace of the former office in this house. And, the more important thing is the house looks like what it should looks. This ia a beautiful and inviting house for the occupant and their guests. This house is located in Yorkville, Toronto, Canada.
