If we see the black sofa, wood floors and other interior items, we could see some near formal atmosphere but the presence of the green walls have made the modern interior of this “Casa Schierle” looks more casual. It is off course, fits their taste and style. And for Sharon it is “something I’ve wanted to build for a while, totally different from the other projects.” For us it is also different than anything we have ever seen. Three different volumes with stunning black and white color and different shape for each volume is something that we will remember at the first sight. With the site overlooking a lush green valley, bringing the outdoors in is a must. Large windows and entry with sliding and pivoting glass doors are the main features for the task. The outdoor swimming pool that enclosed with transparent glass is also designed as a place to admire the nature. The sense of humor of the architect is shown by placing the red rabbit in front of the pool. It can be seen directly from the home when the owner or her guests admire the nature. The home is located in Byron Bay. Australia. photo credit: Richard Powers.

Their exceptional talents are represented in this beautiful house with its red and white facade. The built up area is 600 sq-feet and this modern dessert prefab can be assembled off site. This beautiful prefab sits on the steel column which doesn’t require a traditional foundation, an economical way to build a house. The sustainable features are including rainwater collection system, low energy fixtures, gray-water recycle system and PV cells. This house is also designed with sun orientation. Its open design enables the natural cooling for the house as well as provides views inside. This sleek, elegant prefab house comes with side entrance with wonderful simple concrete block steps. The terrace is located at one end enclosed by metal balustrade. The interior is minimalist. The fully functional kitchen is quite small and straight with the kitchen island at one end. I like the floating cabinetry concept making floor cleaning easy. A unique lighting concept is used there. Single lighting fixture is used along the prefab with lamps installed at needed spaces. If your plan today is building a modern prefab house, we believe that this Mod.fab is one of the best ideas out there. Photos credit: Bill Timmerman.

Composed of five shipping containers, this “OceanScope” stands beautifully with three different angles of 10, 30 and 50 degrees. Since the container shape is of cubical design, any attempt to flex the shape to make it visually flow and blend with the nature is usually difficult. So the AnL Studio wanted to focus on the designing of the container itself and to show others how the stiff steel building blocks could be attractive as well. These recycled shipping containers were planted firmly on solid concrete foundation and were installed with metal stairs. The beach visitor can walk inside and see three distinct views in every container with different angle. The cuts along the walls serve as viewing windows. There, the interior features 10’ slope and 30’ metal stair to the top. There are also 50’ mirror surface / seat and screen / projection. The interior itself is finished with wood board finish.
