Instead of creating a new garage door that faces at the rear, the look of the door seems that the garage door is a new entrance door. The house has gotten that such impression thanks to the small brown wooden door, the recessed design, the overhanging studio volume and the dark color of the door that mimic the color of the existing fence. As a whole, this studio looks as if this is a new building with its own address.

This modern black and white slope house is part of the 29 lots that were built in an area in Brisbane, Australia by Base Architecture. The design concept was building a house that reflects its protected wooded surrounding yet exuding its own character. The house is firmly planted at the slope of the hill. A concrete form with finish that reflects the charred timber in its internal finish that also is used as a pool acts as a “base” of the building. Moreover, large stones are used to cover the front side of the house, further blending the entire building in its environment.
