After designing many retreat houses an architect may need to relax and enjoy himself in his own retreat house. The site location is on a hill with very beautiful surroundings of hills, valley and lush green forest. It seems that it was important for the architect to build the house with large glass cladding, mostly for the living areas. These areas also have a reflecting pool that creates the aura of calm and serene as well as mimicking the nature. The other areas are built in separate volumes. These areas house two bedrooms. The glass cladding also are utilized well for those volumes but only at the valley facing sides. These volumes are clad mostly with dark timber. All of the areas including living and bedrooms are sheltered with open roof. The roof also being mounted with PV cells to collect the solar energy.

From the front, the rear part of the house is visible since this house is clad in glass for the front and the rear part of the first level. This house is also characterized by its wood cladding. This cladding is more extensive at the second level. These glasses do not only make the house looks modern but also brighten the interior. From the main entrance, you’ll find a living room after the first glass cladding. The room continuous to the kitchen and dining room with inner courtyard view. There, you could find another living room with lowered floor level. The entire area that spans from the entrance to the rear of the house is bordered with a long wooden wall with beautiful pattern. It is given a name the “Wall House.” This house, the 810 SF, is located in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

This made the architect of Kovac Architects calls it Hillclimber House. The rustic stone, concrete and hardwood combination makes the house beautiful and inviting. The front part of the house is designed in low profile style while the inside part is designed with modern shape but with classic hardwood materials on the walls. The modern house design flows into the interior of the house with the use of appropriate furniture, wall materials and color. The Hillclimber name has another justification as the swimming pool is located on the upper part of the ground. It is a wonderful swimming pool with rough stone wall and geometric shape. The dark gray decking is made of wood and is featured with comfy lounge chairs.

Their exceptional talents are represented in this beautiful house with its red and white facade. The built up area is 600 sq-feet and this modern dessert prefab can be assembled off site. This beautiful prefab sits on the steel column which doesn’t require a traditional foundation, an economical way to build a house. The sustainable features are including rainwater collection system, low energy fixtures, gray-water recycle system and PV cells. This house is also designed with sun orientation. Its open design enables the natural cooling for the house as well as provides views inside. This sleek, elegant prefab house comes with side entrance with wonderful simple concrete block steps. The terrace is located at one end enclosed by metal balustrade. The interior is minimalist. The fully functional kitchen is quite small and straight with the kitchen island at one end. Home Designs Stela Lucija, Sunday, January 22nd 2017, 10:03:36 AM. This beautiful shipping container sunset observatory is raised in the harbor of Songdo New City in Incheon, South Korea. Composed of five shipping containers, this “OceanScope” stands beautifully with three different angles of 10, 30 and 50 degrees. Since the container shape is of cubical design, any attempt to flex the shape to make it visually flow and blend with the nature is usually difficult. So the AnL Studio wanted to focus on the designing of the container itself and to show others how the stiff steel building blocks could be attractive as well. These recycled shipping containers were planted firmly on solid concrete foundation and were installed with metal stairs. The beach visitor can walk inside and see three distinct views in every container with different angle. The cuts along the walls serve as viewing windows. There, the interior features 10’ slope and 30’ metal stair to the top. There are also 50’ mirror surface / seat and screen / projection. The interior itself is finished with wood board finish.
