Reaching the station is by climbing the wooden steps with its 2 U shaped staircases for each step. This structure probably is formed by a single wooden staircase plank made with 3 wooden supports at the ends and at the middle. This design matches and looks stunning combined with the spacing for the station’s wooden wall. Upstairs, the train station is a wonderful shelter for tourists wanting to continue the trip to the ski area over the mountains by using the cable cars. Architects: STGM Architectes. This contemporary house previously is a traditional house with old-style, rustic stone wall located on an wonderful island named Formentera in Spain. This beautiful home is a home that has been remodeled by Architect Marià Castelló Martínez. The architect also has designed an extension for the house, an extension that is bright and airy. It seems that the remodel and the extension were designed following the character of the original stone house, making the entirety looks blend, warm and natural in its environment. The painted, exposed wood frames are very comfortable for eye to see while the beautiful wooden pergola at the terrace is a very natural way to express the house’s modernity.

This double height living room also is completed with black and white furniture and wood ceiling in natural wood color. To the left, beautiful, stylish wood floor is used to accompany the elegant black floating stair. From there, the color combination of the black stair, wood floor and the white wall is so amazing and feels warmth. And, once upstairs, a platform-like, living room is waiting with its amazing landscape view. This upper floor living room is elegant, natural with its wood flooring and ceiling and also is completed with dark upholstered chairs and rug.

The purposes of the design were to totally integrate the tree house onto the Oak through the organization of the structure of the building and the materials it used and creating a place to relax for adults and a place of exploration, a place of adventure and hiding for children. The oak tree provided a perfect platform for the tree house, it opens at the center, enables the room to be perfectly placed at the center. And due to its perfectness, there were no necessity to cut branches and nail something on the tree, instead, a 3D computer modelling accurately fits and camouflages the house to the foliage of the tree leaving only its roots and makes it as a part of estate on which rests the tree itself. Making it grows from the tree’s structure, against the central trunk and anchoring its root to the surrounding terrain.

Each curve is determined by a set of diagonal movements and the sun orientation. The light looking structure and the “twist” design can be accomplished thanks to the reducing in the building’s load bearing for the concrete structure. With large spans of the supporting structures, with only four supporting structures available (the elevator shaft, two pillars and one inner column), a large, column-free space is created and the glass can be used to capture views from all corners.

The sloping roof expands the volume to the front where large glass walls, windows and doors are used to capture the beautiful landscape view. There, the large overhang of the roof provides some shade to the wonderful wooden deck just before the pool. The landscaping for the house seems simple yet wonderful to look at. The lawn looks open and spacious while the house itself sits on a raised foundation with pool at the most inclined terrain. The front courtyard features pebble hardscaping with white and grey pebbles. The front side is a single story house with low roof and high metal awning for the front entrance door. The front façade looks simple with white wall and looks natural as well with wooden garage door, entrance door and wooden porch.

The Family of art collectors John and Molly Chiles found this mid century house in terrible condition, but they also found that the steel structure of the mouse was still strong and decide to build a new, dramatic open-designed house based on the remain. The concept and the form of the new house provides open perches and shelter both for retreat for the family and the extensive art collections. The main level’s modern, open floor plan creates loft-like spaces in which low walls, area rugs, and mid-century modern furnishings loosely define boundaries between living room, dining room, office, kitchen, and breakfast area. This plan encourages movement through the various spaces and levels of the house. The roof garden combines elements that serve, both in form and reason, to counter the clearly defined steel structure and to evoke feelings of height and expansion. Because her house is sited halfway down a hillside and nestled in a stand of old-growth beech trees, Molly Chiles envisioned the roof deck as a large-scale “table on top of the house” where friends could gather for social occasions in a space with views across the treetops to the distant horizon. As a design/build firm, Tonic worked with a structural engineer and steel crafters to fabricate a striking spiral staircase that connects the main living level to the roof deck. Clipped onto the side of the house, the outdoor stair’s helical form stands in contrast to the grid-like steel structure.A gently curving driveway offers ever-changing vantage points to view the house’s exuberant form. A steel and ipe wood bridge spans a private walled garden and connects the drive to the front door. Project Name: Chiles Residence. Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
