The given name for this upholstered sofa, the “Onkel” (Danish word for Uncle) should represent the inspiration that comes from the old days. Designed by Simon Legald has created the Onkel sofa for Normann Copenhagen, the cushion is inspired by the more fantastic 1950s-style upholstery. However, for the new world today, the back cushion is encapsulated with solid, plain-colored frame that has a firm expression. The materials chosen for this sofa create a dynamic effect with its cushion and frames, both the upper and the under frame. The entire sofa design is then matched and completed as a unity by giving the sofa the same coloring. Simon Legald. Normann Copenhagen.

Located in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, the original mid-century kit house was built on a small valley which the surrounding lands are at the higher elevation. The house is like being built-on a small “valley” with its middle part is visible as a 3 floor home. The exterior of the house looks enchanting with the horizontal and vertical wall pattern and slanted roof. The wall is calm in a few gray color shades and has balconies with minimalist balustrade. This house is built on a small hill with a long flat volume and cantilevered volume at one end. The roof is flat and there’s an entrance at the middle of the house. The grey metal roof is slightly slanted and guests can see the other side of the garden through the middle entrance just from the driveway.

Under this roof is a studio where the serene landscape surrounding may help to inspire the artworks. There, the interior of this studio is pretty clean in white wall color and is warmth with its wooden floor. Other part of the interior still boasts similar wall color and wood floor. The balcony, which eof the 2 house additions has, features balcony with dark grey wooden balustrade. The ambiance there is relaxing and looks wonderful since the balcony faces the treetops directly. The light brown color of the wood is warmth, calming and is a great match for the theme. The long dining table comes with tabletop made from wooden planks instead of one solid wood making the table looks much more charming than ordinary. The round table comes with wooden barrel leg and looks so fascinating. This table is so unique and such accent table would looks amazing in any interior but here, there are many of such accent tables. And there, each table is completed with industrial style floor lamp in grey color with interesting upside down water bucket shape for the shade.

The first floor is supported by the concrete columns that that rise from the foundation to support the steel beams and the concrete deck / floor. The steel beams support the wood frame volume that houses the private area of the house, the five suites for the couple, their three sons and a guest room. As a private area, the street side is enclosed by opaque board accented by a cement slab, (made of wood and covered on both faces with a cement slab). Other materials would be glass panels along with a nylon curtain. This level is located at the trees’ crowns so the architect of Nitsche Arquitetos Associados built a common veranda accessed by all those suites via aluminum sliding doors.
