Instead of creating a new garage door that faces at the rear, the look of the door seems that the garage door is a new entrance door. The house has gotten that such impression thanks to the small brown wooden door, the recessed design, the overhanging studio volume and the dark color of the door that mimic the color of the existing fence. As a whole, this studio looks as if this is a new building with its own address.

Although this house, the “Stonehawke House” seems to be a three levels house but this top level is at the same level to the natural ground due to the sloping terrain. And, as for the rear side of the house that faces the woods, a grassed area was created as a playground for the kids and aesthetically to blend the house with the natural boulders and the bush setting more to the rear. On this volume, the entry, living room and bedrooms are arranged linearly to invite the amazing views inside. This arrangement combined with the large overhangs and sensored motorized shades help to protect the interior from excessive heat during summer and also help to gain heat during winter since the sun light penetrates the interior really deep. And, to further gaining natural lights and views of the lake, the ends of the copper cladding at the second floor are completed with large glazing for both the east and the west sides.
