Anything about this timber home is really “natural,” from the site location in the woods and the building materials and design. This home is located in Sebastopol, California and was designed by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects. This house features a long narrow plan with extensive glazing at one side. This glass wall looks natural and stylish at once with its vertical arrangement. At the opposite side, this house is clad in cedar siding and topped with metal roof. The metal roof is slanted and makes the house looks modern. This house also features two Douglas fir decks at its ends. These area are great places to enjoy the fresh sir and views of the greenery.
Inside, this 1,700-sq feet home features two distinct sides. One side of the wall has all of those glasses to admire the surroundings while the other side serves as service spaces. The glass side is a place to place the kitchen or to build the bookshelves. At the middle of these border-less areas are living and dining areas. There is round dining table with high roof dining room completed with clerestory windows and floral chandelier.
There’s also a living room with cream sofa with color matches to the wood color. There, there’s a workstation / home office with serene view and a cool black fireplace with internal vent. These areas are bright thanks to ample natural lights from the glass side. These modern interiors also feel warmth and inviting with all those light-colored wood for the ceiling and flooring.
One bedroom is located at one end of the home and has direct access to the wooden deck. There, the deck also connects to the small concrete patio and is completed with small garden. The ambiance for these areas are relaxing and enchanting to look at.
One of the calm and neutral interior inside would be the bathroom. The wall for the bathroom is in light gray color and the bathtub is calm in rectangular shape. However, outside the “wet area,” this bathroom still features wooden wall and even wooden entrance door and wood look flooring.
