This house belongs to a concrete contractor who wished to build this house himself and uses his prowess in the building process. Designed by architects Tony Owen Partners, the house features curved concrete walls. The design / shape resembles windblown sails and gives the most of the house’s characters. The house, the “Earlwood House” also features pool, floor to ceiling windows and terrace. The interior design of this home features neutral colors and simple yet elegant design. Colors like white, grey and black are dominating the interiors, the shape of anything inside these interiors are also simple with sharp angles. The living room features cobblestones for accent and the interior as a whole is quite sober.
This house addition and renovation is an example of simple but beautiful home designs thanks to its contemporary and elegant architectural lines. This house is built on the slope with beautiful surrounding. This green area gives an additional strong sense of beauty for the house. The additions and renovation of the house were done to the main features like kitchen and the master bedroom. The existing Ginko tree becomes the focal point for the new indoor outdoor reading room. This house features carefully placed windows to connect the indoors and outdoors while at the same time are keeping privacy for the owners. The house also features pool, a second level terrace, and many bamboo trees. These last plants, are creating a serene atmosphere for the outdoors area. This house itself is located in Los Angeles. With the owner’s blooming architecture and painting business and the growing son, came a time when the existing house/office didn’t provide enough space for the growing needs. But instead of moving into a new location, the owner, architect Craig Steely opted to reconfigure the existing house. The renovation was basically relocating the ‘public’ living spaces into the new level above the existing two levels. There were kitchen, dining and living room to relocate while the professional office for him and his painter wife is still located in the lower level.
But this relocation was very successful; the new level is now a new relaxing area for the family. Just as the other levels, this level features floor to ceiling windows which frame the city’s view for the living room inside. There, a comfy sofa and beautiful table are the best spots there to relax, but if weather is just quite friendly, the family can step outside to enjoy the view on the outdoor deck with an elegant fireplace.
