The design concept of this beautiful modern glass house is a modern interpretation of the Kiwi batch based upon the creation of simple building forms to articulate an uncluttered lifestyle. This modern glass house was designed by architect Stapleton Elliot Design Group and is located in Martinborough, New Zealand in an area of 5000-sq meters with amazing open landscape of greenery and golf field.
A sheltered courtyard was created inside the three main buildings / pavilions. Each volume houses master bedroom and space for guests. Floor to ceiling glass walls and doors were created to enclose the house. The ground floor of the white house has large glass wall on two sides. The glass walls enable the owner to see clearly the landscape from the living room, kitchen and bedroom. The view from one side is the amazing open landscape from its countryside location. At the other side, the garden is slightly sloped and raises a little bit. This garden is elegant and has wonderful grasses and is adorned with some interesting ornamental grasses. This white house actually is the sheltered courtyard that has wonderful outdoor dining area. The pavement for the outdoor area is also white and looks elegant in glossy color.
The interior of the white house is made in black and white colors. The floor is gray, calm and comes in subway pattern for the tiles. The living room and dining room is divided by black room divider with double-sided fireplace. The dining table is adorned with black, mesh pendant lamp which looks so elegant. The kitchen is warmth and is made of wood with dark countertop. The living room is featured with cool black and white striped rug and 2 cool upholstered chairs. Also, there’s a black and white sofa for this living room and the room divider turns into elegant wooden shelves at this side.
Another space with glass wall and amazing view would be the bedroom. This bedroom is calm and looks simpler than the living room and dining room. The bedroom is completed with striped wallpaper and has dark gray rug covering the entire floor. And there, a bathroom looks calm and warmth at once. The wall has white subway tiles and the floating vanity is made of wood with warmth light brown color.
For being a retreat / holiday house and for being surrounded by the majestic views of the landscape, it seemed very important to bring all those views closer. The views are used to decorate almost every space in the interior. The design of this modern glass house, the “Dixon House” is quite simple, but beautiful and relaxing thanks to the views and the bright and airy interiors. Stapleton Elliot Design Group.
